To put it in perspective, Terry said an ATX to MTX conversion is easier than a Zetec to Duratec conversion.

Damn So I was saying an SVT Engine with 3000 miles would be alot faster and ALOT Less miles........ Thank you for all the support and answers... Oh yeah and Micah was moving down here so I was going to have him do the install..... I was advised from Ford also the Contour has an interference motor but hey I am probably misinformed again from the dealership I work for... So What Upgrades do you guys recommend when to get that thing moving???? I want to get some more speed... Thanks again...

Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

Different sources have never stopped disagreeing over whether it's an interference motor.
All I know for sure is, mine is interference due to the shaved head.

John,
How about we go get a timing belt and put it on? What's the worse that can happen? It still doesn't work. Then we have more reason to move toward the 3.0L dream!!!!
I need one for my car anyway. If it doesn't work, we have got to pull the engine to do the Duratec, so take the belt off and put it on my car. All we are out is labor, and I buy the belt...
If we could find someone with a scope we could check to see if there is any damage without pulling the head.
Long weekend coming up...

Anyone heard of a belt breaking with just 25k miles on it before? Does this seem a little odd?

My timing belt pullie blew apart while I had the engine screaming (3rd gear at around 60 or 70, I don't have a tach) I just replaced the belt, pullies, water pump and here's the hard part, the lower radiator hose. After I got everything lined up, it started. It took about a day and $200.
