I have a 97 Mystique Zetec with 62,000 miles on it. Lately when driving over defects (not potholes) on the road, the car feels like it is out of control, it almost feels like the steering wheel is being pulled out of your hands. What could be causing this? I have brand new Michelin tires on it and a 4-wheel alignment. Could it be springs, struts, tie-rods....?? Any insight would be appreciated!

How does the car handle otherwise? Was it out of alignment specs when you got it checked?
Tire pressure OK?

Are the tires factory sized? Larger or gripper tires increase road wander quite a bit. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge difference when I go from my 205/60/15 Winterfires to my 235/40/17 Kumhos in summer...

The tire pressures are what is listed on the door - 31psi front/35psi back. I check them every weekend to make sure they are holding the proper pressure They are 205/60/15 Michelin Pilot XT's. It was aligned a couple of months ago and it was badly out of alignment in the front. I haven't hit any potholes or run off of the road, etc. Could it have gone out of alignment again so soon?
