Ford checked out the car said I need new clutch.. my mechanic siad I need new tranny... if power shifting it grinds a little but still has bite but when accelerating at low rpms it seems to slip out rpms go up but I dont move then it will kick in?? I really dont want to trust ford cause last time I was there due to power loss they charged me 400 bucks and it didnt get fixed they had it for 5 days adn when I got it home and started looking at it myself I could see a couple of sparks shooting from the wires to other sires and the engine block??? sooo Im not sure who to trust.. and ford wanted 1300 for clutch and my mechanic wanted 800 so what am I looking at for price if its the tranny??? or any ideas should I just drive till it finally quites then take it in?? let me know guys
Thanks

$800 at your mechanic for a rebuild? If he's good at it, I'll let him rebuild the tranny and have a new clutch put on. No sense to use the same clutch when rebuilding the tranny on our car.

If you have revs in a high gear and dont increase speed its clutch slip, if the pedal is 'high' it could be clutch slip, if you grind all gears could be drag, bleed the clutch first,if its only in one gear more chance of being a syncro....The MTX Guy!!!

Do "search" in problems forum for BLEED THE CLUTCH and you will get at least 8 replies on bleeding the clutch and in at least a few of them is the complete 'bleed the clutch' thingy
