Dodge recently said that their RAM RT truck would "make Ford's F-150 Lightning no more than a gentle rain." This is John Coletti's (chief engineer of SVT) response. "While Chrysler is trying to dethrone the Lightning, the GT40 we're going to produce will reduce their Viper to a status of somewhere between a garden snake and an earthworm." I like the sound of this competition!

Whatev'ah!
I"m a car guy, not a Blue Oval nut or a Mopar freak.
What I do know is the 2nd Gen Viper is NA while the GT40 is relying on boost. Viper is 75-80K and GT40 is projected to be around 100K. The car rags will have with these two romping through many a test.
The SRT Ram will be awesome, I'm sure 5-8K more than a Lightning but performance wise, it will be well worth it.
the Z06 for 52K is still the hands down winner for HP/$ in my book.

The Dodge Ram RT will have more power, but I think it will be pretty close 0-60. I think it will be very difficult to launch a truck with 500 lb ft and a 6-spd. Granted the Ram will likely run down the lightning in the 1/4.
Glad to see some competition for SVT, now GM just needs to bring out the SS concept truck that they have.

Ford is planning a 2003 release on this. Not a lot of time to come up with a new engine and meet EPA and crash test worthiness if they are back at the drawing board working on a engine/trans combo. Not sure what else Ford has in it's stable of engines that can come up with 450-500HP and stay reasonably light in weight.

Hah yeah, CART cars rely on boost, well for one more year anyways  , until it turns into a copy of the irl. 2.65 liters pushing out ~850 hp, but it's turbocharged so it doesn't matter.
You could say Viper is relying on cubic inches too :p .

And people feel forced induction is the cheap way to go on developing HP. Most every supercar is NA. Not always my sentiments but I'm looking at this from a business standpoint and a public reaction. No matter what you stuff in there it will sell because its a Ford GT40. It's what others think about it performance wise I was gettin at. OT No more HMS to tune Vipers but didn't TNT do a Viper with 0-60 times of 2.6 seconds.
