I was just about to install a new thermostat when i noticed that the new one has this hole in the steel top which is covered by a plastic bolt. the bolt it's not tight. am i supposed to remove the bolt? Could it be some sort of a by-pass to allow some flow even when the engine is not worm enough?
Anybody else knows what i'm talking about?

That hole is to allow air to escape the system. Make sure when you install it that the hole is on top of the thermostat as it sits in the housing...

Install the thermostat as it is with the plastic rivet installed. Just make sure the extra hoile is at the top when installed.
