I own them also. I think they are tires, they are black, made of rubber, not much different than other tires. Tires are pretty much, well....tires.

I have them also....
I love the way the look..
They are kind of noisy though...
and they are terrible on heavy rain / snow.
But u cannot beat the price !!!
Actually, it is very wet right now in CT and any time soon it may snow... and I am putting back my stock 15" on my car this weekend...

From everything I've read here and elsewhere, the 712's are still significantly quieter than the KDW. I have them on my car now and am quite happy with them.

I've got them on my CSVT. I don't consider them to be noisy in the least, they're actually pretty quiet IMHO for a performance tire especially. They handle very well, seem to work fine in the rain for me, and as others said the price is right. I'm quite pleased with them and will probably get them again (or their replacements) when it's tire time in a couple of years.

I ordered them to go on my FSVT rims. There really pretty quiet. And as far a traction goes they do great when its dry or wet.

I had them and they were good for the street, but when pushed (AutoX) weren't even close to the KDW's. I think the new Kuhmo MX's are supposed to be even better and only a pinch more $$. They tested them at Tirerack and they seemed to hold their own.
Also the Kuhmo 712's wore out REAL fast. The treadware rating is low and the Contor ate the insides for lunch!
I would get the MX's instead or if you want a kickass high-perfomance tire, get the Falken Azenis instead.
I am runnig the new generation of KDW's now, and love 'em, but I don't kow if they make them in the OEM size for Contours, yet. I'm running 18's now, so I was lucky.

Some of the best tires I've used. I really loved them and they were NOT noisy, were GREAT in the rain, did NOT wear out fast and I ran better autox times than several WRX's on my 712's. I highly recommend them. I drive about a thousand miles a week and they held up great. I would have them on my car now but I got a great deal on Toyo Proxes T1-S's. Well, I really didn't but they didn't have the 712's and I needed tires NOW!
