After almost disappearing for awhile, its back!
Only seems to happen after the car is sufficiently warm/hot, over about 40 mph and with the foot on the accelerator. It stops when coasting, strangely enough.
I am thinking its the wheel bearings.

if its a reoccuring problem take it for a front end inspection, those are usually free around this time. Not sure about the States but here lots of shops offer winter and front inspections for free.
