i really need to do it, but i dont know the first step, if anyone knows of a site with detailed directions, or wants to be kind and write them here, please let me know, i have already taken off my main cat underneath the car, now one more question for there to be enough back pressure for the car should i have a straight pipe welded or just run a pipe with clamps, and muffler puddy or whatever its called, right now i have a piece of [censored] straight pipe underneath and i dont seem to get all the power out of my car, its running real bad, and real slow...any suggestions..thanks

I just gutted mine a few days ago and have notice great improvement in gas milage and drivability. My mechanic told me that they took off the entire exhuast assembly (had to remove one of the rads. to do that) then cut open the cat housings and cleaned all that sh%& out. They then took it to a specialized welder to close it back up. Best thing that ever happen to my Contour. Good luck, John
