I have a problem when I get up to high RPM's. The lights on the dash (guages mainly) start to go dim and the charge light flickers when the car hits about 6k. I just replaced the alternator and now I don't know what the problem is. The back is just clips that plug into the back so I wouldn't think that would be the problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yep, sounds like you got a defective alternator. Sounds like the voltage regulator inside it is toast.

it is the alternator, but nor the VR. the brushes are getting kicked back by the commutator rings (rough). the fix is the same, replace the alternator.
