Does it stall while idling or does it stall as you come to stop ??

These are two different problems.

Stalling while idling can be a malfunctioning MAF or a frozen IAC motor.

Stalling while coming to stop can be the Transmission Torque Converter, on automatics, not unlocking, or the IAC motor freezing.

Tiny,

Testing the MAF gets rather unwieldy as you can see....

. Testing Notes
. Testing Schematic
. Sensor Data
. DC1 - Check VPWR Circuit Voltage
. DC2 - Check MAF Sensor Ground
. DC10 - Check For Intermittent Sensor
. DC11 - Monitor MAF Circuit Under Simulated Road Shock
. DC12 - Check Vehicle Harness For Intermittent Opens or Shorts
. DC13 - Air Leak at MAF Sensor
. DC14 - Check Continuity of MAF and VPWR Circuits
. DC15 - Check MAF Circuit For Shorts to GND and MAF RTN Circuit
. DC16 - Check PWR GND Circuit Continuity
. DC17 - Check MAF RTN Circuit Continuity
. DC18 - Check MAF Circuit For Short to Ground
. DC19 - Check MAF Circuit Output
. DC20 - Check MAF Circuit Output
. DC21 Check For Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes
. DC22 - Rerun Self-Test W/MAF Sensor Disconnected
. DC23 Check MAF Circuit For Short to VPWR

You might take the MAF and housing inside and let it warmup overnight and then install it and see if it makes any difference! Just a thought!

Regards,
BT

Tiny,

You might also clean the MAF by the following method:

"Clean the MAF sensor wires with a shot of carb cleaner followed by a shot of brake cleaner to eliminate all petroleum residue. 5 minute fix, works like magic."

Picked this up from another message....

I will try cleaning it but will it be ok unhooked for a couple of days? btw it was stalling at intersections and at idle until I cleaned the tb then it was idling at 500 rpm but it runs great with the maf unhooked thanks for the input smile

Well, there are others that have more experience in what problems this may cause. From what I understand, you may get terrible gas mileage until you fix it. At least it's running decently!
