My 97 V6 tour has been longing for a pair of trunk lid supporting shocks, and she'll get them as a new year gift. Anyone knows how to get the old ones out and put them in? What parts do I have to tear apart to get it?

Thanks and happy new year!

I haven't done it or looked at it but can at least
pass on the description in the service manual.
Note this is from 1995 version:

Working inside the trunk with the lid propped open,
remove the side trim panel inside the trunk.

Working inside the vehicle, remove the "rear seat
back outer side extension by pulling straight up
and forward."

This exposes an access hole - stick a screwdriver in
to pry off the retaining clip from one end of the strut.
Go back inside the trunk to pry the clip off the other
end, and pull the strut off of the mounting studs.

Hope this makes sense. Not sure how you reach the
seat-back trim panels from inside the car, though....
good luck.

Repairs: * wheel bearings * sway bar stop * left CV joint * alternator * shift interlock *heater tube * VSS *tensioner *
Why do I still love it?
