Whenever I start my car and just go my car act's like it is going to shut off on me. It drives fine but when i stop at a light it does this thing the the car's rpms go down and then back up as if to stay on. What can be the cause of this how can it be fixed? I was told it's the fuel filter needs to be changed. any comments can help please.

I have the same problem when I pull up to stop lights and I changed my fuel filter but that didn't help it at all. So any suggestions that somebody may have will help. Please.

Look very carefully for vacuum leaks around the PCV valve. The EGR valve could be staying open. The MAF could be dirty and affecting mixture. The IAC may be sticking. A temperature sensor may be bad. Could even be plugs and wires. IMRC stuck open affects cold starts and power.
Basically you have to rule them out one at a time. If the engine has not yet been serviced for intake cleaning, it's about time it was.

Agree. The brake system is hooked into the vacuum system. When you apply brakes, if you have a leak, the vacuum in the engine will decrease and possibly stall the car.

I had the same problem and had a dirty MAF, but I was throwing a CEL. I had both O2 sensors replaced, still got CEL, cleaned MAF, all was better.
If you are getting a CEL, clean the MAF.

My car was doing the same thing, I replaced my O2 sensors and it went away... Might want to clean your throttle body too, I have heard a dirty TB will cause the same problems.

Intake cleaning interval depends on the amount of engine blowby, type of oil, and driving conditions. Excess heat and blowby cause intake to gunk up and even new engines have varying ammounts of blowby. The interval shortens at higher milage and if the oil seperator under the LIM is gunked up. Maybe 70k - 100k first time depending on if it's causing a problem.
