I swapped my G-Forces for my winter tires, and found my rear break pads to be non-existent, while my fronts look to be at about 40% of life still. It looked like the e-brake cable was catching and leaving the rears slightly engaged, thus wearing them down. I'm at 33K miles and under warranty, so I went to my dealer. They said the cable WAS hanging up, and replaced it under warranty. Then they told me that the rear brake pads exhibited normal wear and they wouldn't cover it under the warranty!!! They wanted $237 for new pads and to resurface the rotors! I think it's ridiculous that what they fixed under warranty was to me the obvious reason that the pads were gone and the rotors were harmed, but they charged me for that part of the repair. When I complained they said that it is a trait on some cars for the rear pads to go before the front. They cited the Taurus as being another one that wears like that. Has anyone had this problem, or seen that there is any truth in the fact that the rears wear out that much sooner than the fronts? Again, they were gone at 33K miles, and I am nice to my car, no autocrossing or anything like that.
