I do...lots of wind noise, and they tend to become disloged easily.

Any thoughts on 'improving' the OEM design?

I am thinking of using some masking tape on various seams in the car e.g. windshield, doors, etc to see where beefing up the seals would benefit most. Worst case scenario I look like a jackass driving down the street =D

I'd also be interested to see if anyone has had experience fixing wind noise problems, especially ones specifically related to the weatherstripping.

My car whistles on the right side about about 80mph, which means if I'm on an interstate that means it never stops whistling.... wink After comparing the right and left side of the car I believe it's the weatherstripping. Technically I suppose I should get the ford guys to fix it but I'd much much rather do it myself. Thx for any help!

Mine has some windnoise on the driver side at the b-pillar, but it may just be wear and tear. Since I like to keep my car looking as stock as possible, no tape for me. A way to fix weatherstriping is to get a new one.
If it keeps falling off, there may be an excessive amount of dirt in it or it could be worn out. The best way to clean weather striping is a scrub brush and a bucket of soapy water. Then just let it air dry.

After clean and dry, rub a little bit of Vaseline along the weather-stripping as well!

LOL sorry man I mis-stated myself a bit..I am not driving around with masking tape on my car all the time, only to diagnose what my problem is with the wind noise...like 3 or 4 trips up/down the hwy!

But perhaps I am onto something...the new Type R tape treatment...! I can remove my rear view mirrors, windshield wipers, tape every seam on the car, put moon discs over the 17s...

(Leather Greaser's Jacket with "Bonneville or Bust" patch and ducktail haricut not included)

The seals look "pretty clean" but I suppose I could lube them up with the Vasoline...but then I'd have to explain to my g/f why my car smells like petroleum jelly shocked

First make sure the weatherstripping is clean and keep it lubricated (silicone spray is good). The next thing to do is adjust the door latch strikes on the jambs (the piece that the door lock latches onto. Make sure the slot in the door latch doesn't rub on the top or bottom of the strike. Also, loosen the screws on the strike to move it in (away from the door) so the door closes tighter.

Another area to check is the seal around the outside of the windows. I've had my car in for some work and they use those window boxes to lock the keys in. Each time I got it back the seal was bent out a little and I'd get wind noise going down the h-way. I just used a roller for seaming wallpaper to press it back down snug against the window and it stopped the noise.

I forgot another source of wind noise in my previous post.
I had a noise that sounded like it was coming from around the rear passanger door at 75 mph. It turned out to be the sail panel. The panel doesn't fit very tight against the car and air can get in under the laeading edge causing it to resonate. A little foam under the panel damped the resonation and stopped the noise.

My weather stripping likes to freeze to the door, then peal off the car when door opens.
Last winter I sprayed it with silicone which seemed to help some. the way the doors are joined to the roof allows seepage when a light snow melts... then refreezes !
Fuel door did the same thing until it was whittled away. Can you imagine the service memo saying crappy design please whittle away with jackknife !
