my battery went dead a week ago. i took it out and went to get another one, but it didn't fit. i've been through a bunch of crap trying to get a battery that would work, and finally i have one. i just put it in, and the car wont start. it has power. the lights, stereo, and other electricals work. but when i try to crank it, it just clicks really loud and the windshield wipers come on. what happened? please help.

Did you have your foot on the clutch? j/k it sounds like maybe your starter needs to be replaced. Try to start it while someone hits the starter with a hammer, if it starts, its your starter. Hope this helps

Check the main pwr wires to block and starter, trace from battery to starter and to where the ground connects to the block, see what the connections look like, maybe take the connector off and clean it with something, and reassemble and try again.

well, thanx guys. i figured it out. the negative terminal was corroded on the inside, so i cleaned that out. still didn't work, so i tried jumping it off and it worked. i guess that battery has just been sitting on the shelf too long and lost its charge.
