I am thinking about purchasing the vortech for my svt and i wanted to know how hard it would be to make 300hp @ the wheels? I know alot of you guys with the superchargers are making approximately 265-275hp @ the wheels with just bolting on the supercharger. I wanted to know what type/size of exhaust are you guys using with the superchargers? I also wanted to know if anyone has comparison dyno numbers with gutted manifolds with shoshop y-pipe w/o cats vs msds headers vs sean hyland headers. My last ? is anyone using any type of cooling system with the supercharger? meaning intercooler or water injection or even nitrous. If you are is this making a noticable difference? Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think many people like SHM headers...these were the ones I believe that made it nearly impossible to get the oil filter off or something. Also, I know of a couple of people who are running water injection, World Tour for one and I believe PhatSVT. I do not believe anyone has ever posted dyno numbers before and after water injection. I do know that mark (worldtour) once posted a dyno of 293HP at the wheels. He was hoping to break 300 at spring zing 02. Spark problems. As far as exhaust...I dunno for sure but I would guess 3" Some people were talking about intercoolers but I think the biggest problem is space. Though, the turbo has an Intercooler...maybe they'll sell it seperate from the kit.

And no, mine is not s/c'ed or turbo'ed either...or should i say yet?

Do you just not know about the turbo kit that's out?

Vortec- $3500
SHM headers- $1200
Some kind of intercooler- $1000+

$5700? That's even before a cat back.

The vortech can be had for $3,050 and a set of msds headers are only around $600.00 and as far as the cat back goes make your own:) for under $400.00 and buy a Compucar nitros in a bag kit for $400.00!!! However I woundln't recomend any thing over a 35-40 hp shot when used in conjunction with the vortech!!!!

The turbo is a nice option too!!!!

With some good breathing of minor mods I don't see a problem with 300 FWHP. I think the best way to see sweet numbers is to go down to sea level and dyno. I believe WorldTour put that 293 FWHP at high altitudes.

I've got a true dual 2 1/4" system, but am going to a single 3" next week. I also have a set of gutted manifolds, but haven't installed them yet.

I am using an Aquamist system, I just posted a few pics of it in the pics and videos section. Am intercooler would be your best bet, but space is a serious issue with that, it could be done though.

300+whp is a real possibility with the vortech. I am probably putting out close to 285 now due to mods I've done since my last dyno. After a custom chip and bigger injectors, I hope to top 300.

Thanks for the info. Simon and Sam what other mods did you guys have besides the supercharger when you ran low 14's @ the track. I have one more questions about the superchargered svt. Do you think you guys can keep up or even beat a stock 00 M3 from a 60mph start? Just curious.

My mods for when I ran the low 14 second passes consisted of custom cat bak exhaust with stock pipeing, custom cold air intake, and just Taylor spark plug wires. With those mods I was pulling 9 #'s of boost.

As for keeping up with an M3 I am not sure about the newer ones. I raced a mid to late 90's style. He claimed he had a CAI, catbak exhaust, and chip. Oh yeah he yells to me "I run 5.1 second zero to sixty." Made me chuckle cause I know I can't do that and put a hurten on him pretty bad. But from a 60 MPH roll I would say I would give a newer M3 one hell of a run.
