For that much money you could get a NEW REMAN from FORD with a 2yr/24K warranty !!!
I just did mine for $2500 !!
I paid an additional $200 for an ATX Cooler to be installed along with the tranny !
MAKE SURE THEY USE A FILTERTEK SUMP FILTER !!!!
DON'T ACCEPT ANYTHING ELSE OR YOU'LL BE BACK IN 50K MILES!!!

Surely you could get a used transmission with a warranty for a fraction of that price. Try http://car-part.com/ and see what you can come up with.

Is it the TORQUE CONVERTER?

for that, i would have gotten level ten, only costs a little more.

Level Ten trannys don't come with more than a 90 day warranty.
If you are looking for a transmission that you are going to put a LOT of miles on, you need a good warranty.
If you want a tranny that is going to take a beating all the time, then go with Level Ten.
If this tranny fails anytime soon, my next one will be a Level Ten,
just to see if they can't screw it up any worse than Ford has...

If I were to get a Level Ten, I would let them do ALL the work. After all, if they are going to screw it up, they should have the BEST CHANCE of screwing it up completely.  I got a price quote of $3,600 complete with Removal, Level Ten Rebuild, Level Ten Torque Converter and Replace.

my tranny rebuild including torque convertor rebuild, shift kit, 24000 gvw cooler, and tranny overhaul cost $3000 canadian. which included labour and warranty............

Speaking of rebuilds, what does a MTX rebuild cost ?? Are tranny shops out there familiar with the MTX75 issues ?? Do they use the upgraded parts as recommended by Terry H. ??
