ok, im having a problem when i accelerate, when i get between about 2000 - 3700 rpm it feels just like when you hiting the revlimiter at 110 , thats the only way i can descibe it, when i feel it I just stomp on the gas the revs will jump and it will be fine, its really annyoing.

i recently replaced the IAC because it idle crazy (which didnt completely fix the problem but thats another story i think there is another vaccum leak) also the wires are magnecor and are brand new, the plugs have just been changed to the factory motorcraft plugs single plats I wanted double but they didnt have them
i also have the EGR and IAC restricter mods in place could they be the problem?
I really need some feed back before a i go beat the $hit out of the old tour.
thaks ryan

I would start byt checking codes, the IMRC could give you this problem, specially above 3000rpm when it's suppoused to open, and at least in my 98 tour it does not give a cel, have to scan code,
you could also check the gas filter and the fuel pump, that could give you this problem also in low rpm

The IMRC on a 95 V6 is vacuum operated and usually fails open. Sounds like they are starting to stick closed. Oily PCV fumes coat the intake and burn, gunking up the secondary valves. Best remedy is to pull the intake manifolds and clean them. Gas treatments will not fix this because they are injected into the primary intake runner just above the intake valve.

i just got done cleaning the UIM and LIM, it has new wire and plugs new IAC, and as of 2 weeks ago i watched the IMRC open and close fine, but ill check again.the fuel filter and pcv where changed last year, So whats left if its the fuel pump how much and how easy is it to do? i heard you can get to it if you go through the back seat?

Fuel pump rears it's ugly head when you stomp it - it's not RPM dependant.

Make sure you don't have a dead spot on the TPS, and clean your MAF - gently - with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. That may also fix your idle.

Restricting the EGR is not a good idea. EGR is there to prevent detonation and allow more timing advance at the lean mixtures the engine runs. Having it work is a good thing.

Make sure the short hose to the PCV is not collapsed or leaking - heck just replace it.

Try poping the linkage from the IMRC vacuum pot and wiring the secondaries open to see if that's it.

It didn't start doing this after you put the intake back on did it?

I know this is heresy, but try cheap Champion copper plus plugs. It will only cost you $5.

They fixed my stumbling after 7 months of scratching my head when I put in Autolites and then Motorcrafts. I've had 3 weeks of trouble free driving now.

If this fixes your problem, then you can join the rest of us with old Contours who are wondering why this problem is showing up more and more.
