I am going to buy a Y-Pipe next week and I am not sure
whether to go with the Cat or not. My main concern is power,
but I have heard of some people having problems with the
catless. Please give me some feedback. Thanks.

technically, the "y" pipe without the cat is illegal, and for off-road use only. If you want to keep the car street legal, buy the one with the cat.

Wow, old post, but isn't a cat-less exhuast only illegal in California? or all 50 states?

I'd be interested to find out hte performance difference with/without the cat since I plan on buying one of these sucka's real soon too.

I believe Federal Law says that any tampering with emmissions parts is illegal. In all 50 states.

Check you local Department Of Motor Vehicals.

Correct. Removing or tampering with ANY piece of emmisions equipment is illegal per federal law. It's just only "strictly" enforced in a few states.

That's also why a catless Y-pipe is called an "Offroad Pipe"

I've had both and didn't notice a performance difference when I put the cat back on and took the off-road y off. If it's a SHO-Shop cat, expect it to crumble earlier than it should like mine did. It'll be a bit more droney with the off-road on too btw.

Hold that thought. I have the Edelbrock 5500 going on my car this weekend or next as a resonator (with SHO-Shop catless-Y) and I'll let you know.

For the sake of clean air, after all you need to breath it too, keep a cat on the car.
