I got a new amp for my subs, and I'm thinking about taking my old amp and using it for the door speakers. I have 2 12" 800watt Pioneer Premiers, and they are powered by a Poweracoustik Area 51 520x2 amp. My old amp is a Rockford Fosgate Punch 225.2. It has 112.5 RMS per channel into 4 Ohms. Can I use that for my door speakers? If I do, do I still need to connect the speakers to the amp? A friend of mine said the RCAs will take all the info I need to the speakers? I would consider myself an amatuer in the whole car audio end of things, so any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think he may mean connect the speakers to the HU if he has an amp as well. Seanman, what is it that you want in the end? Are you only planning on having speakers up front and not in the rear doors? Are you looking for a component set with a midbass and tweeter?

I basically want to be able to power my door speakers with my amp. If the speakers are connected to the HU, and I connect the amp to the HU, so I still need to run cables from each speaker into the amp? It is a 2 channel amp. I figured once i got the dash out i could pull the speaker connections from the HU and just connect them to the amp, but then that means more wiring, because I plan to mount both of my amps in the trunk. I figured if i connected them to the amp, I might lose the fade, or the balance as well. I want to stick with my 4 door speakers, I put in kenwood 6x8's a while back, and I know they have much more potential than the stock ones. If I could, I would want midbass and, highs comming from the 6x8's, and then the bass comming from my subs.
