today i was just at canadian tire, so i went to the auto place and asked the guy there if he has the device to check CE codes, he said yea, then he said it was 80 bucks.. wtf? i asked him why and he said that they have to run a couple tests and **** like that.. is this guy just a fukin idiot or is he serious?
i always taht you jus plug something into the computer and itll tell you thte code..
anyone know?

That's the typical price for pulling the codes here in the States. The scanner does it for you, and you have to look it up. That's what they typically charge for anyway. One part is pulling the codes. The other part is printing them out for you.

It's a rip. If you can find a good scanner at a decent price, it will pay for itself after a couple of uses.

OBD-II (96 & newer) requires a code scanner.

Simple plug and play operation.
