well i am trying to sell my 95 zetec atx and i noticed that it was leaking power steering fluid really bad. the fluid is coming out of both inner tie rod boots. so i would assume that the seals are screwed inside the rack. my question is has anybody had to buy one and how much it cost? i am going to put it in myself just need to know the best place to get one.

For a price on the net check Auto Parts Giant . They show it to be about $140 for a rebuilt. Personally, I would check my local AutoZone, PEP Boys or Murrays, depending on what part of the country you live in.

I just did my outer tie rod ends last weekend (a breeze) and replacing the rack looks tough !! I hope you have RTFM (read the fine manual), because there could be some tricks. I know you're trying to unload the car, but I would seriously consider replacing at least the inner tie rod end if they don't come with the rack.

Had the rack on my SVT done by the dealer. $800 Cdn, plus alignment.

I also had my rack done, around 800 cda as well. My moms also went (covered under waranty), and then my power steering pump went (1000). However, a lot of that was labour

a good friend of mine is a ford tech. he knows these cars inside and out so we are going to tackle it next week. i'll let you all know how it went. does look like a pain in the a$$ though. thanks
