The guages in my 2000 Zetec ATX are not working! The speedo is at 0 and the fuel and temp guage are just frozen in time reading what they where when they did work. I did search but didn't find anything after about waiting for 30 mins. Does anyone know whats wrong? They still light up at night though, but that's the only thing they do.

Check your battery. I know it sounds weird, but one year ago I had the same problem. Someone told me to check my battery, and even though the car had been starting fine, the battery was going bad.

I had to have the Speedometer and fuel guages replaced. Somehow, the "incomplete" electrical circuit screwed them up. Worst part was I was without a car for 1.5 weeks while they special made me a new speedo with the correct mileage on the odometer.

Oh crap!!! I think that happened to mine, I had to put a new battery in it last night but the car killed that battery too. So I guess my alternator is bad, does anyone know if anything else would cause a battery to drain while the car is running? How much it cost to have yours replaced? I do not have a warranty any more becuase my car has 42,000 on it.

Alternator is probably dead. Could also just have been defective battery. Have it tested at Autozone or Sears, they usually don't charge to test (they can test the alternator also). I'm not sure what the guages cost. I had an extended warranty and I paid $50 deductible.

I'd try taking care of the battery/alternator situation and see if everything else "happens" to start working right.
