Had front wheels off to install splash guards. Put it back down and started it but it only ran for 1 second then died. It would crank but not start. Had spark and fuel. CEL would come on during cranking then go out. Pulled off the gas cap. Searched the forum. Finally got it going by holding the accelerator to the floor while cranking it. CEL is not on while running.
Engine is a 2.5 with 17000 miles.
Anybody had this problem? What it the best reference for troubleshooting? Helm Inc has the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnostics Manual but I have'nt seen one for Contour on Ebay. How are the shop manual CD ROM's? I see those all the time for 1998 cars. Does anybody know what revision level CD ROM to look for?
