My '95 Contour SE 2.5L V6 at 93,500 miles has experienced it's first rough
running.

I am experiencing rough stumbling at the low end of the RPM range
(1500-2750) when the engine is under load (accelerating). Above 3000
(secondaries) it appears to smooth out.

When not under load ... idle, or minimal acceleration the car does not
stumble.

At highway cruise the car runs good, but upon acceleration it again
stumbles.

The car is still virgin ... original plugs, wires, coil etc.

Any insight as to where to start.

I have already:
refilled at 1/2 tank with premium petrol
added seafoam (mystery oil)

I had just: (I confess)
replaced air filter ... yes I did have to squeeze my hands in and around the
electrical bits associated in order to flip the hold down clips.

Really don't want to get the Mustang rolling, although we're still with out
snow frown and the Mercedes Benz has been idle for excessive blow by.

Respectfully submitted.

Neal

I'd start with the plugs, then the wires. Sounds like those might be the culprit. That 100k service interval is a load of crap.

Plugs, wires, fuel filter, good coolant flush (and possibly water pump if factory), throttle body cleaning. See if there are any codes stored on the computer.

Also, as a side note, this may be the best time to change out the serpentine belt. They don't last forever. smile

I agree that the normal maintenance has been neglected for long enough... eek

Change any & everything you can get your hands on... All the filters (oil, fuel, air, cabin), fluids(oil, tranny, brake, P/S), wires, plugs.

Probably a good idea to pull the intakes and clean them, EGR & IAC...
