I have a 95 contour V6 with ATX. The car has always had the harsh gear changing and no one likes to drive it. Now it's dropping in and out of high gear and it's not changing right. When it does this you would think the tranny is going to fall out. Some times it changes just fine. It has 110,000 miles on it,but the car is clean and the motor in running great. I tried moving the shifter alittle below and above drive but there was no difference. HELP

I just had a problem very similar to this. Unfortunately, I had to have the tranny replaced to the tune of $2200.

There may be other problems going on. A good way to test is check the tranny fluid. If it smells burned and/or is not a reddish-pink color then you have a problem. If not, there are sensors and valves that may not be working properly and need to be replaced.

Your best bet is probably to take it to the dealer or a transmission shop.

for the price of a normal replaced tranny, i would definetly get the level ten rebuild and pay a little more.

im inclined to agree with kermit....too bad my warranty company didn't agree when my atx went out back in january....next time it goes...and i know it will cuz it feels like a pos....hopefully i can afford the level 10 treatment
