Will replacing the stock SVT Filter with a K&N make the engine sound better and feel any different? I think I am going to get the K&N filter for now and maybe a different intake system later. Thanks.

You wont hear much difference because its still in the stock airbox. There will be a difference in performance with better throttle response (the k-n is pulling more air in at a faster rate of speed)

Would it be worth doing that now then? I might want to get a different intake system down the road, but not right now.

Don't waste your time and $$$ if you are going to get a different intake system down the road.

The K&N comes pre-oiled and should be good for ca. 20,000-40,000 miles before it needs cleaning. If you do opt for the K&N don't apply too much of the oil to the filter when you clean and re-oil: it may contaminate your Mass Air Flow sensor resulting in fluctuating/surging idle speeds (approx. 1500-2500 rpm).

Just my $0.02 worth...

Dude...get an AFE drop in filter from Micah (pxracing@aol.com). You will feel a difference w/out any added noise/moosing issues. I have one and highly recommend it. PM me if you have any questions - pxracing@aol.com

Also..that drop in AFE is designed for the 3.8 (?) Ford Mustang engine, so it flows plenty for our cars!
