Anyone had this one done and what cars does it cover? I heard about the dashboard recall well before Ford sent me the recall, so I'm wondering what years/cars/models are affected confused Thanks for any info you guys can post here, thanks wink

According to the Recall paperwork I recieved from Ford it states:
Ford Motor Company is providing an additional coverage program, number 99M08 to owners of certain 1998 model year Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique and certain 1999 model year Mercury Cougar vehicles.

Sorry I can't say what was done exactly for the fix .. My paperwork doesn't give specifics on what they did.

From what I understand, it's a problem with a short circuit in the resistor pack / wiring harness for the heater blower. There is also the possibility of a fire because of this short circuit.

I had a problem with mine last February and Ford replaced the unit free of charge and last week the unit went out on me again. My fan will only work on high. I have an appointment Tuesday morning to have the repair done again.

It's not just for '98 or newer... I got the recall notice for my '97.
Mine went south while still under warranty, then got the recall this year. Plus it was done a second time when it was in for the park sensor going bad because I failed to mention that it was fixed under warranty before the recall was ever issued. Oh well...

So I take it that this recall isn't "new" then confused

I'm pretty sure it's new because I got my letter about 3 months ago. I was just saying that mine went bad over a year ago while still under warranty, before there ever was a recall for this.

This is what was replaced on mine...

I think this recall covered all contours as I had my '95 done. Mine wouldn't work on high but all other speeds worked. The "new" notice you got was probably the "extension" letter saying they were extending the warranty on this recall due to some failures of the replacement parts.

Hey,
Concerning this recall, any idea on how this thing is going to work for those of us oversees (Germany)? Or who I might be able to contact to get the skinny on this?

Thanks,

Lee confused
