I backed into my van with my 1996 contour. The passenger side rear is crunched. I had to hammer it out with a sledge hammer so that the fuel door would stay closed.
My car has 95,000 trouble free miles. Would it be worth repairing? I am going to be gettin a new car next year. The resale value on my Contour probably isn't much even in mint condition.

I had a fairly minor crunch on the hood, and it ended up costing about $1000. The hood was a simple unbolt the old, bolt on the new, primer and paint, etc. You're probably looking at the cutting torch and welder, before you ever get to the painting.

It all depends on if you love the car... I would repair mine becuase it has 125,000 miles with no major problems, has never died on me and is really clean.. I love mine...Unless it was way more than the cars worth.. Your call good luck.. How was the van??

My E-350 van has one small scratch on the bumper. I am going to get a newer used car next year so I think I will drive my car with the damage.
I am going to get a Plymouth Breeze or a 99 Contour. Are the Plymouth Breezes good cars? Fuel mileage, Dependability and comfort are what I like. I never drive fast.
My 96 Contour gets 47 MPG on long interstate trips.

You must drive aggressively if you only get 47 MPG

47 mpg? Please tell me that's a typo. If not, I want to know what you've got that I don't have.

My Contour gets between about 600 miles per tank of gas driving on the interstate. It has a 2 liter Zetec and Automatic Transmission with overdrive. I use the narrow Michelin Symetry tires. My new Michelin Tires made a big difference in fuel milage. The old Goodyear tires could not be balanced because of belt damage.

If you drove that tank dry, that would be 41.5 MPG. I had an 95 Zetec ATX and I call BS. And yes, I drove the freeway all of the time. low to med 30's was the best I could ever get.
