OP JonGordo8 Veteran CEG\'er J Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 974 Lake in the Hills, IL	I just recently noticed a nasty hum coming from my engine compartment. I think that it only happens when I am not on the gas, so like at stop lights. I think it also only happens when the car is cold, and not warmed up. The car is approaching 40k miles, and this is my first problem with it. Now I do not know much about cars, but I can tell you that it is loud. You can hear it inside the car, and outside from about 50 feet away as well. I haven't been able to play with stuff enough to realize if it only happens when the ac/heat is on or what, but I know that I have always had the defroster/ heat on the last week. webdev0474 New CEG\'er W Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 23	I have 82k on my car and it just started as well it is reall flippen loud and I have noticed it is coming form the back of the engine and I thought it was the belt on the backside of the engine so I replaced it and it is still there this happens even if the car is standing still i am replacing my water pump tonight thinking this is what is making the sound so i will let you guys know tomorrow if that is what it was but it is bad.

I took me a while but have it done and the noise is still there so now I am following the directions of the fix that one of you psted and I will see if this fixes the problems.
