So, I pull out of the parking garage while leaving work, and my car starts making this horrific noise from the rear suspension. It sounds like rubbing a hammer against a metal washboard whenever I go over bumps, accelerate hard, or brake hard....Esentially whenever the rear suspension moves. I'll take a closer look in the morning when it is light out.

Possible problems...
Springs gone?
Shocks gone?
Anything else?

This friggin car is on the way out! Damn! mad

no chance its your inner fender rubbing on your tire? check that out thats an easy fix. mine rubbed (why i have no idea, i have stock tires!) so i had to cut a chunk of it off and voila, no more rubbing. it made an awful sound though when it did rub.

Not sure what vehicle you've got, but check your sway bar bushings. My SVT started making hellatious noises almost overnite. Any time the rear suspension moved more than a tad. Finally got time to put the rear end up on my ramps and started bouncing the back end up and down while under the car. The sway bar bushings were the culprit. Pulled them out and greased them and now all is back to normal.

129k miles was a bit much.

i'll wait till next year, there will be plenty of 2000's under $10k by that time with lower mileage.

Check your springs just to be sure
