Thanks for posting that.
Thanks also for your opinions. I put a lot of work into that and it makes it worth while to hear that people like it.
The way I built is this:
I took the old shift bag (pre-98) and separated the bag from the plastic bezel that holds the bag. The part directly above the new bezel is attached to this.
I then carefully and slowly (very Slowly!) built the platform up using small pieces of wood. I then layered on top of the wood with fiberglass to the level and flatness I wanted. The fiberglass also evened out the sides with the edge of the bezel(the wood platform was at first made to fit inside the bezel because I thought I would cover it with black leather at first).
Then to finish it off I painted the whole thing with epoxy and carefully placed one sheet of fiberglass and made sure it was very smooth.
A little of my black trim and bumper paint (2 part system by Dubro (sp?) that matches the finish of the Ford Black plastic finished it off. The fiberglass gives it a sweet carbon look.
The trim ring is a Lokar (make parts for Mopars), the cheapest I could find at $40! The Audi TT one was like $90 and so was the Bullet Mustang's, plus those really wouldn't fit well.
Anyway I'd love to mas produce these but unfortunately it would be way too costly because it took me a LONG time to do it.
For those of you who would like to try it, I say go for it and I can offer my suggestions when needed.

wanna hear a dumb question? what's a bezel? and where did you get that cup holder replacement, or is that the bezel?

The bezel is the ring around the shifter.
The cup holder is the replacement Ford came up with to the pop-up ones. This one is pulled up and supposedly is heavier-duty.
