Hi.Just got a '99 svt about a month ago.Recently noticed a sound coming from the tranny when its in neutral,kinda a rolling, grinding, clicking noise,goes away when you push the clutch in.
Also ive noticed that you just barely push the pedel in an the clutch disenges,is that normal?
Also how do you find out what number car you have?

i believe the noise you are describing is referred to as gear rollover. If that is it, its not anything to worry about. Might want to wait on Terry or Big Jim to let you know for sure.
As far as finding out what # your car is, call 1-800-FORD-SVT and give them your VIN number. HTH.

The noise is louder than the motor idling.And about the clutch engaging with very little pressure on the pedel?is this typical?

sssshhhhhiiitttt nooooo  My trans. has a biiigggg hole in it now because of that sound. i was told that it was normal too,my SVT is gitting a new trans. right now. do not pop the cluth what ever you do, and drive slow. i will tell you what broke in a few days.......I work at AUDUBON Ford in baton rouge la 
98 SVT, clutch masters flywheel, spec stage2 clutch, quaife ,y pipe. and only MOBIL-1 oil.

I too have this noise... i dont want to spend another grand buying/installing a new tranny. what is the noise? how do we fix it? and is there a better tranny for our cars? or better parts to fix the tranny...
