My engine was running real hot so I go to check the coolant and it looks like it was spraying all around the resevoir. The coolant didn't appear to be coming in from any hose. Could this be a bad WP? My thermo reads high and my heater blows cool.

Year of car? V6?
Sure sounds like the classic symptoms.
Both mine went in May.

I assume that the coolant blew out of the coolant bottle from overheating.

This is a classic case of a failed water pump. Water pump impeller has come apart. The true evidence is that the heater is cold even though the temp gauge is pegged.

yup its the water pump, our pumps have a plastic impeller instead of metal one . so after about 50000 miles it can break and stop turning, if that happens it cant pump the coolant through the engine. i got rapped by my mechanic and spent 300+ on labor+ anew one, heres the funny part he replaced the broke one with a neither pump w/ a plastic impeller. If you felling up to it you can order a new one with a metal impeller from http://www.spmotorsports.com/
for 60 bucks and do it your self.

the newer plastic one is supposed to be better. There was a post earlier today (I forget which forum) where the w/p was still ok on a 99 SVT with 61k miles. The w/p had the revised white impeller.

It was little old me...

Save your money and do it yourself. Just hope your impeller merely cracked instead of disentigrated...
