I posted here a couple weeks ago about my zetec's loss of power. I am not trying to be a pain in the neck by posting again on the same subject but my situation isnt any better than it was. I will write a full description of all my problems. The car no matter what seems like it has lost power over the entire RPM band (especially upper RPMS!!)...THe problem gets worse as the RPM's increase...Usually when the engine is cooler the car will just want to stop accellerating after about 4.5k rpms so I shift and push the gas down like I was racing and still the power is nearly gone, so I gotta get off the gas and then go it again. Also when the car is able to go past 4.5k rpms with decent pickup (which is most of the time) there is a fast paced rattling sound coming from the engine area. I thought this might be the timing belt but on inspection it seems to be doing just fine. I inspected my cam gears and I don't know if this would be a problem at all but the markings on the cam gears are not aligned with each other, if one is at 12 the other will be at 3, if they were off this much though I think there would be a major problem. Someone suggested that maybe my pre cats fell apart and are clogging up my cat. I hate no idea where my pre-cats are or how to check them...I was thinking that maybe there is a problem in the fuel system somewhere so I was gonna take it to pep boys and have them do their full fuel system cleaning which costs about 90 dollars. Other than this I have no idea about what I could do, I have already changed the fuel filter, cleaned the fuel injectors, cleaned my MAF, and cleaned my air filter. I just have no idea what I could do!!!???

IIRC, Zetecs don't have pre-cats, we just have cats. You may want to have somneone look at the timing and see if that is all correct. Also, Go get a diagnostic Code Check from like Auto Zone or somewhere. Your MAF may be done for.
