This may sound stupid, but was in the main difference between econo rotors and premium rotors? Is it just material thickness, or are there other factors.

Are the stock rotors considered econo or premium.

Is it a 2:1 life span between them?

What is the safe worn thickness of the rotors before you can no longer use them?

I don't want to cheap out, but I do not aggresivly use my breaks.

Thanks.

Econo rotors are not nearly as good as factory rotors. Premium rotors may be as good as or better than factory specs. Thickness should be about the same. The difference is in materials (quality of metal used), quality of casting, quality of machining, etc. It is not uncommon for econo rotors to need machining right out of the box. Econo rotors may be OK for a very gentle driver, but I would not want them on my car.

If you want new rotors and don't want to spend $80-100 each for them, I suggest buying the Raybestos replacement rotors. NAPA online has rotors sold under their own brand that appear to be made by Raybestos for around $50. (prices in US$)

Premiums are probably OEM quality (which means, good) and are made in Europe under decent quality control, with high quality materials. Made by either EBC or AP-Lockheed, both respected names in Europe (similar to Raybestos, I assume).

Econos are made...wherever...probably in 3rd world or developing Asian countries where material and process control isn't all it should be.

It's your brakes.

BTW, I just got the Premium package deal from BAT. I only have the rears on so far, and pretty low miles, but so far so good after a break-in and one autocross.
