I recently relocated my batt. to the back. Everything works fine but when i shut my car off and turn it back on my cd player resets (stations, settings, etc.)I know its cause of the batt. because when the key is in the on possistion before i start the car the cd player is fine but once i start it, the memory is wiped clean. I think it might be because of ground. i ran the ground cable from the batt back to under the hood and attached it to the old ground cable. was i not suppose to do that, am i suppose to ground it in the trunk? HELP

A battery relocation wouldn't make a bit of difference to your stereo unless you messed up the constant power wire lead to the stereo. Check to make sure that you have the constant power feed hooked up correctly and that it holds voltage in both the accessory and full on positions. It has nothing to do with a ground wire on the battery, though it is better to ground your battery less than 18 inches from the battery terminal for corrosion reasons.

Are you sure you haven't forgotten to put back one of the many ground straps under the hood?

Because you've got two long lengths of cable running to the battery you may have a large voltage drop across the cables when cranking the engine. The voltage may drop low enough on the permanent 12V line to your stereo so that it loses all the stored memory.
I'd recommend grounding your battery in the boot. Make sure it is a good earth (remove paint around bolt, use a star washer to bite into the metal, and find a meaty section of the chassis to bolt to). If that doesn't fix it run a new wire directly from the battery positive (via a fuse) to the stereo.

That's what they are called over here in Australia... You could maybe try grounding it in your trunk- if you get off on that sort of thing. These are an international forum, you should learn some of the overseas terminology instead of trying to make fun of it.

What's wrong with us Canadians? We can take a joke.... Don't confuse our wimpy, weak-kneed, left leaning, peace-loving bleeding heart prime minister and our other liberal politicians with the real Canadians that are proud to be your neighbours.
