Hey folks...

I own a '98 Mystique, and I was wondering if anyone else had the problem I'm having. When I eject a CD, of course it comes halfway out. But when I go to pull it all the way out, I hear a churning noise, and the display says "CD"... just like it does when I put a CD in the player. So it's acting like it's searching for a CD when I pull it out. This causes the radio not to play. And until I put the CD back inside and press "Stop", the churning doesn't stop. So as of right now, I can't listen to the radio unless I put a CD inside and keep it there. I've tried pulling the CD out as slow as I can, and it still doesn't help. This has been happening for a couple of years now. Is there something I can do about this (there was nothing about it in the manual) or should I take the car to a mechanic?

Ford CD players SUCK! I recommend getting an aftermarket unit. Much better sound quality!

My car came with a stock Ford CD player. I was in Las Vegas and a CD got stuck in the player. We couldn't hear music or radio all the way home -- to Utah (7 hrs).

Then I found out that it was scratching my CDs. Got a new one that weekend!

Sad to say I too was not impressed with Ford's CD equipment. My tour came with a Ford CD stacker. I had jamed CD's happen often. I had to take the stupid thing a part so many times, at least 30or more times to retrieve my CD's..... Anyways I got rid of it including the stock radio and bought a panasonic CD player. Ahhhhh!!! it was the best thing I did for myself. No more jamed CD's. No more frustrations just peace of mind

yeah...i have even worse problems. You're lucky your cd player works...mine doesn't even work. I put a cd in, a it says "Error..."..and it jams in there for a few days. Can't take it out. And when i do take it out...i can only listen to radio, right? well, something like that...I turn the radio on, and then cd automaticly turns on. It's like, searches for a cd or something. And it wont stop unless I press EJECT button. And sometimes it does that like every 2-3 minutes. I shut off the whole thing (shut of the radio), and it does it again.
Those cd players suck !!
I have a pioneer tape deck with a 6 disk changer in my beretta...that's a stereo. It has a really good sound quality.

Yep, that's exactly what happens to mine. I thought I was the only one with this problem. I guess it's time to save up some money for another stereo *sigh*
