What OBD?II codes are coming up?
{I do hate spam, but that isn't really part of my email address. Remove the string ?HatesSpam? from the email address ?BobHatesSpam@blaylock.to? to email me. No advertisements. Spammers will be dealt with very harshly!} ------- Moonlight Blue 1996 Mercury Mystique GS , Zetec engine, ATX. No mods. (Well, OK, one mod. Before I got rid of my previous car, a 1994 Tempo, I swapped radios. I liked the Tempo's radio better. That counts as a mod, doesn't it? I also kept one of my Tempo's wheels to use as a spare. I hate those stupid ?compact? spares that come with modern cars. Does this count as a mod? If so, I guess I have two mods. Replaced burned/melted blower switch and connector on 19 February 2002 with a 1P3T toggle switch from Marvac and a Molex connector from Rat Shack; I guess this now makes three mods.)

I will probably drop it off at Satan, oops I mean dealer, Sat. to have the mil checked. I am hoping to not take it in but I dont have the scanner. It seems to be getting progressivly worse. I have 72,000 miles on it. I am wondering if the alternator could do this?

Call the Autozone store in Cleveland. if they have a scanner, the guys will usually read out the codes for free.

Same things happening to me, in fact the car dosen't run worth a crap. The car has became so bad that it has no power whatsoever. It is a chore for the car to reach highway speed. I had it into the dealer today and they said it was the transmission fluid. Figure that out.
Anyways my advice to you is unless these people at the dealer have treated you extremely well and have never bs'd you before, then take it to them. If not ask some local contour owners to come over and help you out! Chances are they know more than the mechanics do and are more appreciative of the car and person than any dealer will be.
Currently: 2002 ztw focus wagon, black, manual. Yippee it sucks!!

Kind of a dumb question but have you tried reseting the pcm yet? If the answer is yes then Autozone should rent OBDII scanners.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

My local dealer is the one who wrecked my car and now refuses to further repair the car so....... I think I am going to go in on the group buy for the scanner. I wasnt aware that autozone has or even rents the scanners, kinda cool but scary I reset the battery mainly becuse of the corrision. I thought that the corrision was the problem but nope. I see one of the replies was a local to me. Our Houston chapter doesnt see much action at all. I almost drove to Austin just for a group drive/get together.
