Does anyone have any ideas on this one. As in previous posts I had to have my head gasket replaced by a shop after they blew it. Now a couple weeks later I have been trying to trace down a coolant leak. In the past couple days I ripped the whole cooling system apart and replaced the major hoses, even though I couldn't really find the leak. It seemed as if the leak came from the water pump.

Well I took the water pump apart and replaced the gasket, now the engine is back together and it still seems to be leaking. The coolant is coming off the bottom on the driver's side of the driver's side motor mount. This is why I thought it was the water pump. If anyone has any idea let me know, as I really don't want to have to go and take off the heads and do all that, as that is a crappy job.

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, they sell coolant with ultraviolet dye in it. It is used to track down leaks. Once you have added this coolant and let the engine run a while, you would shine a blacklight on the engine in a dark area and you should be able to see where the leak is eminating from.

Could be the shaft seal on waterpump. With IMRC cover removed this type of leak should be visible from engine side of wp pulley. There is a weep hole in wp impeller casting to allow coolant from this type of leak to escape.

I replaced my WP with a metal one in April and about two months later it started to leak. Needless to say it was faulty and I had to have it replaced again.
