Alright guys...first night I'm driving my SVT Contour I bottom out (not realizing how low it is) and pull off a metal piece which appears to stablize the bumper...does anyone know what this is called? Also what are the potential problems of not having one? Does anyone know where to get a replacement? Please let me know...PM me or post a response. Thanks Matt

Well my bumper is loose as hell to begin with, so I'm going to say that if it looks like it holds the bumper on, get it fixed, cause the whole bumper might be next.

yeah...didn't really hold the bumper on though...just seemed to connect the far corners together and keep them a consistent distance apart...replacing it would definately stabilize it...

Ford, wrecker or midnight auto supply. I'd recommend the first two if you want to post again.
p.s. Welcome onboard.
p.p.s. A description and car year would help in a response, but I'm assuming it's the small dia. round metal piece about 8" long that probably stops flapping in the breeze.

Car is a 98.5 SVT ... and actually the piece is more like the width of the car...and looks like "a flexible I-beam"...not very sturdy, but not a small piece...let me know if you have any ideas as to what it is. THanks Matt

It sounds like you snapped the clamps that hold your rear sway bar on! Get it put back on if you want your car to handle for anything. If in fact you lost it, contact Terry Haines about getting an "Aussie" Bar. It's bigger and gives much better control of handling

the piece isn't on the rear though...its on the front bumper holding the ends in...looked like it only connected to some fiberglass bumper corners? Any more info would be appreciated...
