I went to AutoZone and they pulled the code P1405 off my car.
DPFE sensor upstream hose off or plugged.

where is the DPFE sensor and what does it look like.
Anybody have pix of it.
Also should I try to fix it or just replace it?
Thanks ahead of time.
Also I have a 96 GL ATX.

I'm not sure where the DPFE (Differential Pressure Feedback EGR) is located on your car, but the Ford TSP (Technical Service Publication) shows it just below the EVR (EGR vacuum regulator) attached to a bracket.

It looks like a small, silver, rectangular box with two black hoses (in your case one is missing) and an electrical connector coming out. It is about 4"x3"x3/4" (this is just an estimate from memory). It is attached by two bolts.

The DPFE is used to measure the flow (difference in pressure) of exhaust going from the lower exhaust manifold into the engine (via the EGR valve).

96 Contour SE Duratec V6 24-valve 2.5L ATX 108,000 mi. Replaced: crankshaft w/ DMD, EGR valve (clogged), EVR, DPFE, PCV valve, evap emissions hose & tube (cracked), window regulator (broken), LH & RH PCV tubes, UIM gasket (leak), ignition coil
