Can someone explain to me the meaning of "Class D"?

Furthermore, I'm looking for a recommendation on an amplifier for 2 10" Subs. They're rated for 200Watts RMS, 400 Watts Peak and are 4 ohms each. So thus I'm basically looking for a 1chx2Ohm setup. I have no plans for competition and I am looking for something reasonably priced.

class D just means what kind of amp. It's how efficient it runs. Class D is more efficient than class A/B.. it will produce more power, less heat, with less electrical current. The disadvantage is that the sound quality won't be as great as the a/b amps. You don't really have to worry about these figures when it comes to powering subs though.

Anyways, i'd look into the JBL BP sub amps. They're reasonably priced, and will never let you down

Class D means mono, I recommend eclipse amps, they are what I run, but they are preout voltage hungry, and a 33230 should suit your needs mono or standard 2 channel, 250W x 2 Channel Max. Power Output at 4 ohms, so monoed to 500W x 1 at 2 ohms, this amp is not a class d amp, imho it sounds so much better

Has anyone had bad experiences with the JBLs? I was looking on ebay and the BP600.1 can be had for about $180. I'm concerned though, even though the sellers say that they are brand new and are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, the warranty text from the manufacturers usually say that the warranty is void unless purchased from an authorized dealer.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

these JBL sub amps are cheap, and very reliable. Even if you don't want to get it off ebay, you could look at some other webpages that do sell them. they're still way cheaper than most other sub amps. But for the reliablity over those will probably be equal or even better

i have a JBL 600.1 mono amp. Its awesome...i took it apart and build quality and engineering is amazing...it delivers clean solid power and drives the hell out of my two DVC subs at 1 ohm mono. Very solid performer. Do a sounddomain.com pricematch with etronics.com to get a new JBL 600watt rms amp with warranty for $183 .

A guy at work has that JBL BP1200.1 running two Rockford Punch HE2's in his Camaro and it hits 153db's legal on the dash. He has to replace the subs after every competition, but the amp has lasted him for a few years now.

You guys want power, get a linear power 3.2 hv from the T03 series, rated at about 3 hp and at 746 watts in 1 hp thats 2238 total Watts, i owned an older one, 5002 that was made in 1986, was caught on fire, and still powered my subs like crazy, good clean 2 channel amps they have less than a 6% failure rate with their amps, 6 year warranty, They are crazy but powerhouses

Dirty signal appears to sound louder, just look at MTX audio.

MTX is good.. that's basically what i'm running. But i wish i wasn't, because they're pricey for what you get
