Hey Guys -

For the last few weeks, each time I start my car it idles at roughly 1K, then promptly stalls. The second time I start it, it runs just fine. Unfortunately, it's almost a constant that I'll have to start it twice. Also - when stopped at a light, it idles at 500rpm. Is this abnormally low, and what should I do to fix all this?

-Travis

The IAC is at the back of the engine, near the center (left to right), underneath 49 million hoses, pipes, and clamps. You can't get to it from the top, and you can't get to it from the bottom. The first step was to remove the air box, plenum, etc. Then, I had to disconnect some of the other hoses before I could reach the IAC. I could see it, just couldn't reach it. There are two bolts holding it in place. I think Haynes says they are 7 mm, but mine were 8 mmm. I reached the top bolt from the top of the car, using a 12 inch ratchet extension. I reached the bottom bolt from the bottom of the car, using a 3 inch extension.

Don't know if this will solve your idleing problem, but at least maybe it will give you a start.
