Ok

I got a check engine light that is on, and i went to autozone to check it out. I got a code p171.
I installed two new oxygen sensors lately, and fuel filter, and new spark plugs and wires. What's the code mean, and how do i fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Code 171 is an oxygen sensor.I remember reading a recent post that if you replace the oxygen sensor you should replace with oem because the aftermarket ones do not have a "bulb" or something like that. Check the trouble section forums to see what I am talking about.

Well what's Oem? I mean wouldn't autozone know this? I went there to purchase the oxygen sensors.. they got on their computer thingy, and went and got it. So it's a possibility that i got the wrong type? Please explain. Thanks

OEM means buy them directly from Ford, Not autozone or anyplace else. Maybe it stands for Original Equiptment Manufacturer. I'm not sure on that. But aftermarker means anything you buy from anywhere else that wasnt made by the manufacturer of your car.

Not true. You can buy O2 sensors for our cars at other auto parts stores. Ford will charge almost double the amount (~ $120-130) for an O2 sensor. Just make sure that the O2 sensor comes with the correct connector.
