if you can hear the clicking while idling and reving the engine to 3500-4000 rpm.
pop the hood and try to listen and find out where the clicking is coming from. if its coming from the engine try opening the oil cap and rev the engine slowly. if you hear the clicking getting louder and coming from the inside the engine, then most likely you spun a bearing. if this is the case stop driving the car before you do more damage.

my best is 16.4at86mph on the g-tech earlier this spring but that was with my stereo system, an extra passenger, and only exhaust and cold air intake mods. haven't had a chance to get any numbers with all of my mods and without the system yet, but i'll be hitting the track on Oct6. i'm hoping to hit low to mid 15s.
did u check for the noise under the hood?

Your problem sounds like a typical case of engine knock. If you dont have an SVT try using premium gas on your next fill up, I bet that will cure it. If you do have an svt, and you have that problem then you must have a bad knock sensor.

about the loud clicking, now i can't be 100% sure about if it is exaclty the same problem i had. My car was making a loud clicking(more like loud knocking)around 3500-4000RPM, but i ignored because there was no CEL and the car was driving normally. instead of just replacing bad bearings i ended replacing the whole engine. if you just started hearing the noise get it looked at before you do more damage.
you can try the higher octane gas and it may be just the typical engine knock too.

Same thing happened here. I heard a knocking noise and I just thought it was like the speedo or the tach. It kept getting louder, so I took my Contour to the Ford dealership, they said it was the wrist pin. Then I went down to the CO-CEG meet and Alex(Bicylce019) and Chad(FluidSVT) both said that it is the connecting rod. It is caused by the oil pan in the Contour, sometimes when you make and hard right or left, the oil take up line isn't taking any oil so through that turn you are getting little oil. That is the way I understood them to mean. They said you can run a quart over full to prevent this, or you can get the oil pan done by Mirko. So yeah you should probably your car into a mechanic to have it looked at.
