If it's the red, steel version, it's hitting the EGR because it's originally designed for the four cylinder. Derrick Malcolm got around it by having South County Autosports (now defunct) "crush" the bar right where it goes over the EGR. I've also seen the bar mounted backwards to fit, but I don't know how close it got to the firewall.
If it's the aluminum version, you may have it mounted backwards. The crossbar on the aluminum bar runs close to the firewall.
