has anyone seen the fast and the furious? Well, the way i understand it, there are two types of fast cars: The tweaked foreign cars and the American cars with huge engines. And since the contour is really neither, which one (as far as exterior looks and exhuast) should i take after? Do i want to make it loud like it has a huge engine, or try to make it sound more like some kind of "jet engine." (I hope non of you hate me for this) but i'd pick a pimped out accord of celica over a mustang or camero anyday. Just curious as to what your thoughts are.

well i for one.......loved fast and the furious......i just like cars........your most stereotypical response can be.........go for what you like......but seriously you should.......you really cant get gaudy with the body kits for us........well cause there arent any! with the exception of erebuni, svt, and the one hellahydro is doing......
be as unique as you want to be......dont let anyone else mod your car for you.......go with what you feel.......a little of both worlds why not!? paint it ferrari yellow, i know i would......

I'm not anti-honda, but a riced out accord or celica is the most god awfully ugly thing you can find. I'd take a Mustang ANY day over one of these. I drive a '91 Eclipse 2.0L Turbo in stock form every day because it get's 30mpg and can still keep up with most v6s. My project car is a '79 Mustang Coupe Turbo that I hope to get into the 9s. I'm not sure what you meant by "pimped out", but I can't ever think of a hot looking accord. The new celica's look ok in stock form though. You can't tell me that an accord could ever look this good?

I think most decisions like these are based on age, technical knowledge, and then, obviously, plain ol' preference.
IMHO....muscle cars are waaaay more visceral. They are louder, more raucous, more in your face. And can definitely be more scary, if only because they are older and may not handle as well as newer cars. My contour handles better than my vette, but there's also 15 years difference in technology. Older cars are also much cheaper to go fast in. I can do an engine swap on my vette in a couple of hours and be done. I go from a stock 350ci @ 190hp to a crazy 350ci @ 450+hp. You just can't do that kind of stuff nowadays with newer cars. They are tighter, more compact, all the computer gadgetry, blah blah blah. Screw it, I wanna go fast, I want it now, and I want it as cheap as possible (not including NOS).
I just never understood dropping as much money as people do into these riceburner 4-bangers and whatnot. What have you got? A pretty car (to the owners) that has a top speed of 140 and a 1/4 mile in 14 seconds. And this is usually after double what it would cost for an old muscle car. And here's the other thing. A nice muscle car will almost always have a value greater than a modded riceburner (or domestic).
It just comes down to personal preference. What do ya see yourself driving? Are you driving for you? Or are you driving to be seen? If it's to be seen, then who are you trying to impress? Just gotta go with what ya like... I'd post a pic of my vette and my contour side-by-side, but I don't have the pics up on any site yet...but it wouldn't be hard to decide (in my head) which is the better car, both looking and performace-wise. If we were farther into summer, I'd have a vid of both my Contour and Vette running, one view from each car. No contest.
BTW, most people don't realize how inexpensive muscle cars are and how inexpensive they are to fix-up. Hell, even if it's a beater, you can drop a brand-new 400+hp V8 in it for under $4000...if power is your thing...
I'll say it again...it's ALLLLLL preference. Gotta go with what ya like yourself...
I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby. There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there. You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one. How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have? You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!

You are so right. Muscle cars are inexpensive to get them to go fast. Well, relatively inexpensive. I'm building a low 10s, high 9s Mustang and so far it's only gonna cost me $6000 total. My goal is low 9s and I'm estimating my final costs are under $10k. Beat that Honda. Oh, and that with adding about 200 pounds in weights to the car to meet the minimum weight requirements of the NMRA Drag Radial Class.

Well, go with what you want to... there are many parts out there besides body kits to "rice" your Contour to some extent, at least from what I have seen so far. I'd get some nice exhaust and throw a power adder on it and beat the pants off of the rice cars out there if I were you. Crawdaddy, I'm with you. Nice looking Mustang... here's mine check my sig. for more pic's and the site for it if you would like. That one was before my paint job and new hood but prety much how it sits now as far as driveline and engine. This one is what it looks like now.

A all original muscle car say for instance a corvette stingray would will out sell a honda. Hey evolution when are you going to come to IN so I can put your vette to sleep with my 5.0 hehe :p
