Ok my car has 38000 on it....since I have bought it I have been using 10-30 non-synthetic oil. what is your recommendations for what I switch to? From what I hear it is best to gradually go to semi...then several changes down the line go to full. Is this true? Any input would be appreciated.

there is no reason you can't up and switch to a full synthetic oil right away.

Ford reccomends 5W30 for the duratec. There is a heated debate over what oil to run in this very forum. I run Mobil1 5W30 on the street. I may think about running redline 30 weight oil on the track if I ever run this car on the track.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Too bad Castrol Syntec is not a true/full synthetic. Plus contains high amounts of ash which leads to build up and can turn acidic.

We won't even get into their claim of "active" particles.

Skip Syntec at all costs!

Why pay $5+ a quart for an oil which is not even as good as their conventional oil? I am just letting people know not to get it. Nothing against you personally.

Castrol makes such a great conventional oil (one of the best rated) yet dropped the ball so thoroughly on the synthetic lineups.

That's good info. I always preferred Mobil 1, and I'm glad I stuck with it....
