After fighting with this smell for almost a year and having Niagra Falls from under the car at the gas station once, we finally changed the gas tank last night. Turns out it wasn't the tank after all, but the vaccum hose at the top of the tank. The stupid thing was split almost the whole length of it. Oh well live and learn at least that smell is gone. If anyone else is having a really strong fresh gas smell I would certainly have the tank dropped and the hoses looked at before replacing the tank! We went ahead and changed the tank, the new one was there and we said what the hell at least we know this one was installed the right way and it is something we souldn't have to worry about again as we plan to have the old girl around for a long time!! Still runs like a young pup!!! laugh
